One of the defining characteristics of modern astrology is its recognition that not all planets operate on the same timescale. Some move rapidly through the zodiac, producing influences that are brief, dynamic, and often felt in the rhythm of everyday life.
I want to be clear about something before we start, because I find that people either dismiss astrology entirely or embrace it uncritically, and neither response is particularly useful. What I do, and what I've done for the better part of thirty years, is study astrology as a symbolic language for tracking cyclical patterns in history.
